 2016 Preview 


       Last year Central Florence finished sixth in Class 4A region 8 with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Central Florence has gone a combined 43-24. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Central Florence has managed to compile a record of 135-135. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 4A and 186th in the AHSAA.

       The Wildcats are led by head coach Heath Wood who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 33-22 over the past five seasons at Central Florence. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Wood.

       Coach Wood's overall record as a head football coach in five seasons stands at 33-22 (60.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Wood's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won one region championship.

      

      The Central Florence Wildcats will play in Class 4A region 8 during the 2016 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Wildcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 8 this season.

       The Wildcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Lexington on Friday, August 19 at McMeans Stadium. Last year the Lexington Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 3A region 8. The Golden Bears lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Piedmont by a score of 34-0.

       Central Florence and Lexington have met a total of 42 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 22-19-1 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in 2016 with Lexington winning by a score of 27-0.
